Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an opportunity for clients to have a tailored and collaborative living solution that aims to enhance independent living skills. These accommodations are specifically designed for individuals requiring more support in everyday life and receive SIL funding through their NDIS plans.
Whether you decide to live with other NDIS participants, or on your own, SIL provides a supportive environment and 24-hour support for any and every need required. These accommodations are developed to help you thrive.
What does our Supported Independent Living (SIL) service include?
SIL services are extremely supportive with:
• Guided assistance with daily activities
• Personalised care
• Meal preparation
• Support with medical requirements
• Enhancing communication abilities
• Recreational guidance
• Domestic cleaning
• Empowering you to achieve your aspirations
• Cultivating new talents and skills
• Wellness Coaching
• Exercise assistance
• Coordination of appointments
• Structuring a routine
Please note that SIL does not cover general expenses including groceries and rent, and rather focuses on disability-related support needs.

Is Supported Independent Living (SIL) the right fit for you?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is suitable for anyone requiring support in everyday life and especially within the home, however, it is typically allocated to individuals over 18 with SIL funding in their NDIS plans. There are opportunities to live with other participants and share support services, or live by yourself with your services and personalised around-the-clock aid. SIL could be the perfect solution for you particularly if you require substantial 24-hour, one-on-one support from a disability worker.
If you are uncertain about SIL or your living support options, please feel free to consult our friendly team at Top Disability Care Australia for guidance.
What is the Planning Process for Supported Independent Living?
The planning process is simplified into a key key steps:
1. Pre-planning
After joining and being approved by NDIS, a planner will schedule your initial meeting. We advise that you prepare for the meeting by starting to think about the type and amount of support you require alongside any questions you may have.
2. Planning Meeting
3. Developing Care Roster
4. Roster Assessment
We will submit your care schedule for NDIS evaluation, validating your plan with substantiated evidence and compliance with the NDIS Price Guide regulations.
5. Plan Review
At Top Disability Care Australia, we are dedicated to ensuring that all clients are well taken care of and supported to the best of our ability. To ensure we continue to do this, we will review your NDIS plan yearly to guarantee it meets your needs.
If your situation or needs change, our team is readily available to assist you in reviewing and rebuilding a new plan to suit you.
